Governor’s Action Against Siddaramaiah is Correct: Union Minister Joshi
Hubballi EXPRESS News: Union Minister Pralhad Joshi has defended Governor Thaawar Chand Gehlot’s decision to grant permission for prosecuting Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the alleged MUDA scam. Joshi asserted that the Governor’s action was appropriate and called for Siddaramaiah to resign from his position, citing moral responsibility.
In a press conference on Saturday, Joshi emphasized that Siddaramaiah should fully cooperate with the investigation. He noted that the Governor had consulted legal experts and considered all relevant aspects before making the decision. Joshi stressed that Siddaramaiah should resign and face the legal process.
Joshi drew a parallel with former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, who stepped down immediately after facing similar allegations, and suggested that the current Chief Minister should follow this precedent to ensure a fair inquiry.
The Union Minister clarified that no central government agencies are involved in the investigation, he should face Lokayukta. He questioned why Siddaramaiah would resist an investigation if he had nothing to hide.
Joshi also criticized Congress leaders who have disparaged the Governor, labeling him a “puppet” of the central government. He condemned such remarks as disrespectful to a constitutional office.
Furthermore, Joshi clarified that the BJP is not attempting to destabilize the current government or seeking to form a new one. He assured that the BJP’s role would remain as an effective opposition, with no intention of unseating the government.
